Check out our gas grill maintenance blog for tips on cleaning the outside of your grill. #5) CLEAN THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR GRILL – While cleaning the inside of your grill is important to keep it running well and safe to use, cleaning the outside of the grill is just as important to keep it in good shape. After preheating the grill, now is the best time to brush off your cooking grates, as the food debris will have been turned to ash and should come off the grates easily. Getting to the orifices in a Genesis 330 model is typically easier than you probably suspect. I’ll be covering the same process the professionals use and include two videos showing step-by-step propane to natural gas grill conversions for two major brands of grills. Fuel conversion means changing the in-coming gas connection, changing the regulator for liquid propane or natural gas and then changing each orifice for the type of fuel being regulated. After lighting your grill, turn all the main burners to high, close the lid and let it heat up for about 10 to 15 minutes. The manufacturer can also sell you the conversion kit needed to complete the transformation. If you are unsure, contact the manufacturer. This information is typically found in the instruction or owners manual that came with the grill when it was purchased. If you try grilling with the lid open it’s going to take a longer time to finish your food, and you miss out on that great smoky, grilled flavor. Always grill with your lid closed. Check if the natural gas grill can be converted to propane use. Nothing has changed in all the years since then, and every Weber grill is meant to be used with the lid closed. #3) LOOKIN’ AIN’T COOKIN’ – Back in 1952, George Stephen designed the very first Weber grill specifically to address problems like the wind and rain, and also to trap heat in the grill to create a better grilling experience. Check out our blog about manually lighting your grill, then contact us at so we can help fix the problem! #2) GAS GRILLS CAN BE MANUALLY LIT – Did your igniter system stop working? While it’s definitely not convenient for an igniter system to stop working, all Weber gas grills can be manually lit. For more information about converting your grill, click here. Doing so actually voids the warranty on the grill. Also, due to safety reasons, we don’t suggest converting a grill from one fuel type to another. It’s not possible to use a propane model with natural gas or vice versa. #1) A PROPANE GRILL HAS TO RUN ON PROPANE AND A NATURAL GAS GRILL HAS TO RUN ON NATURAL GAS – Each Weber gas grill has been designed to use either propane or natural gas. Here’s part three in our on-going series of “Must Know Things about Weber Gas Grills”! Check out part 1 and part 2 of this series. Grilling can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be, but there are some things Weber gas grill owners should know.
